Technology for Human Life

Q1. MMA Korea Company Introduction

「Providing Total Customized Solutions for Medical Institutions」

A. MMA Korea, established in 2002 as a subsidiary of a Dutch healthcare company, transitioned to an independent entity in 2006, leveraging its proprietary expertise and technology. Currently, the company exports its products to around 40 countries. Rather than simply manufacturing and selling products, MMA Korea specializes in designing and producing specific spaces within medical institutions such as operating rooms, intensive care units, and emergency rooms, offering comprehensive medical solutions.

Q2~Q3. Description of MMA Korea products + Description of Medical Gas and Laminar Flow System

「Providing Medical Spaces Compliant with International Cleanliness Standards」

A. MMA Korea primarily manufactures and sells medical gas supply systems and laminar flow ventilation systems for surgical rooms. Among the products we sell, medical gas systems involve constructing systems and designing spaces to supply gases such as oxygen, suction, and anesthetic gases required for medical procedures to the central supply system. Laminar flow ventilation systems are installed in operating rooms and intensive care units according to international cleanliness standards to prevent secondary infections that may occur during surgery.

Q4. Strengths of MMA Korea

「Competitive Advantages and Stability Based on Unique Manufacturing Technology」

A. While there are many companies capable of providing medical solutions, the advantage that sets MMA Korea apart from these companies is its ability to manufacture the hardware needed to build the systems directly. By manufacturing directly, MMA Korea gains price competitiveness, enhances product quality, and ensures ease of future maintenance, ultimately providing patients with a safe clinical environment.

Q5. Outlook for medical total solutions in the domestic and international markets

「Continued Growth in Domestic and International Medical Total Solution Markets」

Just a decade ago, there were no separate standards for clean rooms in operating rooms (ORs) in South Korea. However, with the COVID-19 pandemic, issues such as the establishment of negative pressure wards and standards for preventing secondary infections during surgery became of utmost importance. As a result, frontline medical institutions have begun to expand and establish standards for such facilities. Standards and specifications for clean rooms are being legislated and certification is being mandated. Although this change is somewhat late compared to other developed countries, the installation of clean rooms in operating rooms and other medical facilities is now expanding even to general hospitals in Korea. Moreover, in developing countries, there continues to be demand for modernization efforts in operating rooms and intensive care units. Therefore, the future market growth prospects appear promising.

Q6. MMA Korea's Recent Major Concerns

「Concentration on Investments in Negative Pressure Wards and Modernization of Operating Rooms」

A. Due to the vulnerability of medical institutions with outdated operating rooms and intensive care units to healthcare-associated infections, particularly highlighted during the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a focus on investing in the modernization of operating rooms and the establishment of negative pressure wards to prepare for potential outbreaks of infectious diseases. Therefore, the company is aligning its capabilities to address these needs.

Q7. Future Export Strategy

「Expanding into the Middle East and African Markets Beyond Asia」

A. Around 25 years ago, we exported our medical total solutions for the first time. The destination was Bangladesh. It was quite surprising when the decision was made to establish hospital systems in Dhaka, which is nearly 200 kilometers away from the capital of Bangladesh, still one of the poorest countries in the world, but this decision led to the first export, turning theoretical business prospects into practical reality. Collaborating with local engineers and construction companies in various countries around the world to build hospital systems, as well as directly manufacturing and exporting our own products, has laid the foundation for MMA Korea to become a company exporting medical total solutions to around 40 countries. Currently, the focus is on expanding beyond the Asian market to regions such as the Middle East and Africa, aiming to introduce MMA Korea's products to even more countries.

Q8. What kind of company will MMA Korea be in 10 years?

「We will strive to be at the forefront of the medical industry through hardware development.

A. In every sector of society, we see a trend towards digitalization and software integration. Ultimately, good software development can only progress as far as the hardware that supports it. We believe that without good hardware, the advancement of software can be limited. Therefore, MMA Korea aims to be a company that creates and advances excellent hardware to ensure that good software can be effectively implemented in reality.
