Shihwa Medical Center Transfers Advanced Medical Technology

to Medical Personnel from Uzbekistan

Shihwa Medical Center (Chairman Choi Byeong-Cheol) announced that it held a completion ceremony for the Uzbekistan Medical Training on November 29, 2024.

This training was conducted as part of the ‘Uzbekistan Overseas Medical Personnel Training Program’ organized by Gyeonggi Province, with two orthopedic and surgical specialists from the Republican Research Center of Emergency Medicine in Uzbekistan participating. They received training at Shihwa Medical Center for four weeks from November 4 to 29.

During the training period, trainees participated in clinical education conferences for the relevant departments and observed surgeries alongside medical staff, including Hospital Director Kang Seung il and Surgical Center Director Jung Sung Taek, gaining firsthand experience of advanced Korean medical technology and systems, as well as accumulating clinical treatment experience based on various patient cases.

In particular, the trainees from Uzbekistan received intensive training in arthroscopy in complex intra-articular fractures and laparoscopy for urgent abdominal pathology.

During the event, Hospital Director Kang Seung il presented certificates of completion, commemorative plaques, and gifts, congratulating the two Uzbek doctors for successfully completing the four-week training, and they also received certificates through Gyeonggi Province.

Hospital Director Kang Seung il stated, “We hope that the medical skills acquired at our center during the training period will be utilized in their home country, serving as an opportunity for the medical technologies of both countries to further advance.” He added, “In the future, Shihwa Medical Center will take the lead in spreading advanced Korean medical technology to overseas medical personnel through systematic training programs.”

Meanwhile, Shihwa Medical Center visited Uzbekistan last year and signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with local medical institutions. This agreement was made with the Uzbekistan Tashkent Health Authority, national childhood cancer center, and two other institutions, creating an opportunity for health and medical cooperation and mutual development between the two countries.
