This year, Korea University Ansan Hospital was able to resume full-scale its international healthcare programs that had been hindered by the COVID-19 pandemic for the past two years. In June, the International Healthcare Team at the Korea University Ansan Hospital visited Mongolia to take part in the Healthcare Cooperation Working Level Meeting along with the Gyeonggi-do government and the Health Development Center (HDC) affiliated under the Mongolian Ministry of Health. In addition, the hospital signed an MOU with the Second National Hospital of Mongolia.

Then, in September, at the “2022 Medical Gyeonggi Online Conference,” Professor Hong Kwang-dae from the Department of Colorectal Surgery gave a presentation on Korea’s advanced rectal cancer treatment and rectal cancer surgery using robots. After the presentation, there was a Q&A session, as well as advice and active discussions on appropriate treatment for patient cases in the First, Second, and Third National Hospitals of Mongolia.

In the same month, Korea University Ansan Hospital visited Uzbekistan to sign an MOU with eight healthcare institutions in the country, and hosted a conference for healthcare experts to share Korea’s advanced healthcare technology and system. Also, the hospital took part in the “2022 Medical Gyeonggi Business Forum” to introduce Korea University Ansan Hospital’s cutting-edge equipment and treatment system, and took part in a total of 15 business meetings to attract foreign patients.

In November, following the MOUs with healthcare institutions in Mongolia and Uzbekistan that were concluded in June and September, six doctors from Mongolia and Uzbekistan were invited to take part in a four-week long foreign medical staff training program.

President Kim Un-yeong stated, “Korea University Ansan Hospital is actively engaging with healthcare professionals in many countries around the world to acquire and spread advanced healthcare technologies and systems.” She added, “We will continue to closely cooperate with our network of foreign healthcare institutions based on the MOUs to share Korea’s advanced healthcare system and ensure that those living abroad can also receive the best healthcare service.”

Korea University Ansan Hospital’s International Cooperation Team will continue to strengthen the network with foreign healthcare institutions in 2023. Programs that were conducted this year, including conferences and training sessions, will be expanded. Next year, the hospital plans to engage with Kazakhstan, Vietnam, and more countries.
