Gyeonggi Province-Baringo County, Building A Healthy Future

Through Medical Exchange

- Visit to Baringo County State Hospital and Donation Ceremony for Medical Supplies

- Discussion on Medical Cooperation Plans with the Kenyan Ministry of Health

Gyeonggi Province conducted an official visit schedule from October 19 to 25 to strengthen health and medical cooperation with Baringo County, Kenya. The Gyeonggi Province delegation carried out a variety of activities, including visiting Baringo County State Hospital, providing medical services for local patients, a donation ceremony for medical supplies, and volunteering for cultural and artistic activities.

This visit was conducted with the purpose of strengthening health and medical cooperation between Gyeonggi Province and Baringo County, Kenya, and to establish a platform for medical exchanges. After traveling approximately seven hours from Nairobi to Baringo, Gyeonggi Province discussed cooperation plans with the Baringo County Governor and medical officials.

The main schedule included a visit to the Baringo County State Hospital where they inspected local medical facilities and identified the needs of medical support projects. In addition, conferences on infection prevention methods for surgical patients and patient classification for Baringo County medical staff, as well as a donation ceremony for medical supplies, were held.

During the medical volunteer activities, medical staff from Gyeonggi Provincial Medical Center Icheon Hospital and Soonchunhyang University Hospital Bucheon provided medical consultations to local patients and observed and guided medical treatments and surgical processes.

Furthermore, storytelling using picture books and art programs were conducted for kindergarten and elementary school students at Eben Ezer School in Baringo County, along with donating child medical kits while providing health education.

Since signing a memorandum of understanding for health and medical cooperation in May 2023, Gyeonggi Province and Baringo County have promoted active exchange cooperation projects, including mutual visits and invitation training for Kenyan medical personnel.

Through this visit, the importance of strengthening health and medical cooperation and medical exchanges between the two regions was highlighted, and continuous project promotion led by Gyeonggi Province, such as invitation training for medical professionals and charitable medical activities, is expected.

A Gyeonggi Province official stated, “We expect that health and medical cooperation with Kenya will be further strengthened through this visit,” adding, “We hope that through continuous exchanges and support between the two regions, we can build a healthier future.”
