Gyeonggi Province Holds ‘Medical Cooperation Forum’ to Explore Global

Expansion Strategies for Local Medical Industry Companies

On November 7, Gyeonggi Province held the 2024 Gyeonggi Medical Cooperation Forum at the Future Hall of Seoul National University Bundang Hospital’s Healthcare Innovation Park, under the theme “Global Expansion, Strategic Cooperation Plan for Enterprises.”

Hosted by Gyeonggi Province and organized by Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, this forum was arranged to assist medical industry companies in the province in establishing strategies for international certification and successful entry into the global market.

Medical device and digital healthcare experts from Korea and overseas, as well as company representatives attended the event, where they shared various case studies and explored strategic cooperation plans necessary for certification procedures and overseas expansion into major markets in the United States, Europe, and Asia.

Specifically, discussions included topics such as “K-Bio Shining on the Global Stage, Unfolding Wings of Growth” (Amazon Korea representative), “Overseas Expansion Strategies for Domestic Medical Device (including digital healthcare companies) Enterprises” (Director Choi Yoo-jin, at Samjong KPMG), “Strategies for Entering the Chinese and Southeast Asian Medical Device Markets” (Center Head Jang Dong-hyuk at the Korea Testing & Research Institute), and “Experience and Case Studies of Overseas Expansion of Domestic Technology-based Digital Therapeutics” (Noh Yoo-heon of Emocog).

Since 2020, Gyeonggi Province has been promoting the “Medical Industry Cooperation Support Project” in collaboration with Seoul National University Bundang Hospital. The main initiatives include a mentoring program connecting experts in necessary fields (medical, investment, regulatory) with companies on a one-to-one basis, research seminars sharing medical field ideas with industries, forums sharing the latest trends for overseas expansion of the medical industry, and support for clinical or analytical testing for market entry assessment.

Yoo Kwon-soo, Head of Gyeonggi-do Medical Resources Division, stated, “This forum will be an important opportunity to strengthen the global expansion capabilities of the medical industry in Gyeonggi province and expand cooperation among companies.” He added, “We will continue to provide administrative support necessary to jointly solve difficulties in the technology and product development process and to enhance international competitiveness for medical industries.”
